Injectable After Care

Injectable Post Care

BOTOX

Botox usually takes 14 days to reach full effect and can last up to 3-4 months.

  • Gently exercise your face, continue to raise eyebrows, make cheesy smiles, and push your brows together like you are angry. This can help the effects of Botox show up sooner.
  • Do Not exercise or increase your heart rate. This could potentially spread the toxin to unintended areas reduce its effectiveness at the injection site, and increase the risk of bruising.
  • After 4 hours you may perform light exercise such as: walking, yoga (avoid any positions that leave you lying flat or upside down), and gardening.
  • Avoid wearing a headband or hat where the band goes across your forehead if you have had injections between the brows or in the forehead. This helps to reduce the pressure to the injection sites to reduce bruising potential and migration of Botox to untreated areas.
  • Avoid high temperatures like steam rooms, tanning beds, hot showers/baths, saunas, or heated exercise classes for 24 hours .
  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or physical pressure on the affected area for 24 hours – This will decrease the chance of Botox movement, bruising, and reduce the effectiveness of your injections. Do not use any facial rollers, or a Clarisonic to your face for 2 weeks. No facials or face treatments for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours – Alcohol increases the risk of bruising.
  • Keep your head up for about 4 hours post Botox treatment – Bending or lying down might spread the toxin to unintended areas and promote bruising.
  • Go makeup free for 24 hours – Applying makeup will rub the skin, potentially dispersing the toxin.

Potential side effects:

  • Bruising: For the majority of patients, the area of injection will appear no different. For a small minority, some minor bruising may occur. If bruising appears, apply ice to area for 15 minutes every hour to decrease bruising.
  • Bumps: A few minutes after treatment small bumps may be visible on the skin, these will disappear.
  • Headache: True Botox allergies are exceedingly rare. A temporary headache is the most commonly reported symptom following Botox injection, any headache can be treated with Tylenol.

DERMA-FILLER

Recovery time is different for every client and for each type of filler.
Your initial appearance maybe an “overfilled” treated area. Swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, or palpable lumps at the injection sites, these should improve with massage/ice in a matter of days up to 2 weeks.

  • Avoid intense physical activity or upside-down activities, like yoga for the first 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Please try to refrain from taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and other non-steroidal-inflammatory medications, like Celebrex for 24 hours to minimize bruising.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after you get dermal fillers. Elevated blood pressure and heart rate from exercise may make swelling or bruising worse. You can take Arnica (over-the-counter) for bruising. It’s fine to engage in light activity like walking.
  • Avoid using AHA (Alpha-hydroxy acids), Retinols/Vitamin C therapy or oil-based make-up for 24 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking for the first 24 hours, because it acts like a blood thinner, can cause inflammation, increased bruising, and make swelling worse.
  • NO DENTAL PROCEDURES, including routine cleanings FOR 2 WEEKS post injection.
  • NO VACCINES FOR 2 WEEKS post injection.
  • Avoid high temperatures like steam rooms, saunas, tanning beds or heated exercise classes for 48 hours after treatment. High heat can make swelling more pronounced.
  • Avoid facials, facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA (Alpha-hydroxy acids) peels, IPL (lasers) or energy-based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment.

Potential side effects:

  • Headache pain or pain at the injection site: Tylenol can be taken as needed.
  • Redness, welts, or itching: This will resolve on its own. Benadryl can be taken as needed.
  • Lumps/Bump: Will resolve on its own in or around 2 weeks. Massage with constant pressure to the area for two minutes, repeat 5x a day.
  • Bruising and swelling: This will resolve on its own. You can ice for the first several days, 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off, 5x a day.

LIP INJECTIONS

Recovery time is different for every client and each type of filler.

Your initial appearance may be an “overfilled” treated area. Swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, or palpable lumps at the injection sites may be present and these should improve with massage/ice in a matter of days up to 2 weeks.

  • Your lips will likely be swollen after the procedure. You may also notice some redness or bruising at the injection sites, which is normal. Sometimes you’ll have minor swelling or small lumps – these DO tend to even out in just a few days, and massaging can help. Massaging the lips with clean, sanitized hands can be good to help the lip filler distribute well with your natural lip tissues. This can be done with moderate pressure for 30 seconds 3 times a day for the next 3 days. You may take Benadryl before bed, if not allergic, to help with swelling.
  • Apply ice to your lips afterward using an ice pack or an ice cube covered in cloth (so it doesn’t stick to the lip and cause pain). This will help ease swelling, itching, bruising, and/or pain. You can take Tylenol for pain, but not blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen.
  • Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water will help your body heal. Eat plenty of hydrating fruits and vegetables. Try to avoid excess sodium, hot drinks, and spicy foods which may worsen swelling.
  • Avoid makeup on your lips for up to 24 hours after.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after you get lip injections. Elevated blood pressure and heart rate from exercise may make swelling or bruising worse. You can take Arnica (over-the-counter) for bruising. It’s fine to engage in light activity like walking.
  • Avoid drinking from straws or smoking cigarettes for at least 24 hours, because fillers are still moldable for about 1-2 weeks after injections.
  • Avoid high temperatures like steam rooms, tanning beds, saunas, or heated exercise classes for 48 hours after treatment. High heat can make swelling more pronounced.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it acts like a blood thinner, can cause inflammation, increased bruising, and make swelling worse. For at least two weeks avoid flying, changes to air pressure can adversely affect the filler. Avoid laser treatments for at least two weeks, the heat emitted from the lasers can break down the filler faster.
  • NO DENTAL PROCEDURES, including routine cleanings & NO VACCINES FOR 2 WEEKS post injection.

Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTP) Laser Post Care

Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTP) Laser Post Care

  • Keep the treated area covered with Cicalfate until the area is starting to heal.
  • Protect the treated area from sun exposure with Hats / Sun Block.
  • Do not pick at any scabs that may occur, this could result in scarring.
  • Avoid makeup to the area for 24-48 hours.

The 532 Laser emits an intense beam of green light which is selectively absorbed by abnormal vessels or unwanted pigment. The absorption occurs so precisely that surrounding tissue is minimally affected. Immediately following the treatment the areas treated will be surrounded by a red flush which will resolve in hours to days depending on the intensity of the treatment.

Most vessels will disappear during the treatment. Some larger vessels may be reduced in size. Pigmented spots treated will turn darker during treatment and will remain visible until the lesion crusts, which form only over the treated spots, fall off naturally 5 to 15 days after the treatment. These areas may look slightly pink for an additional few days.

Areas treated for abnormal vessels may also form a linear scaly surface crust over the vessels treated. These will fall off by themselves a few days after treatment.

The treated area will be coated with a cooling gel or ice and Aquaphor following the procedure. Repeat treatments every 4 to 6 weeks based on your treatment plan.

As always, any questions or concerns are always welcome. You can contact your service provider or the salon at 1.844.725.6655
