Before Your Child’s Appointment

Children are unique customers that require unique preparations. So, we would like to provide you with some helpful suggestions to ensure this experience is as wonderful as we would like it to be for your child.

Detangle

Before you come for the appointment, it is wise to detangle your child’s hair as best as you can. Stylists work on strict schedules with their appointments. Having to spend extra time combing out your child’s hair could make someone else have to wait unnecessarily. Many stylists will charge for this additional time.

Another reason we make this request is because some children are very troubled when they have their hair combed through. If they end up crying, the embarrassment and stress may ruin the entire experience for everyone involved. We don’t want that for you or your child.

Bring Snacks

It’s also advisable to come prepared with snacks and activities. If you have to wait for your appointment your child will need something to encourage him or her to remain in their best attitude.

Don’t let your child run all over the salon while you are waiting. Coming prepared with activities and snacks will help make everyone’s experience a good one.

Know What Cut You Want

Unless your child is old enough to determine his or her own cut, please know what you want us to do when you arrive. Coming with photos of what you have in mind is a great way to ensure we are all on the same page.

Please allow our stylists to make suggestions based on their expertise when it comes to your child’s hair type and facial shape.

Calm Their Nerves

Getting a haircut can be a little anxiety inducing for some children. If you have one of those children please answer their questions and encourage them. Help them understand that this is a process that will make them look the way they desire. When they have had their questions answered prior to arrival it is easier for them to be calm in our chairs.

Separate

While your child is sitting in one of our chairs we would prefer it if you didn’t hover. Many kids will act worse just to get their parent’s attention than if you let them sit with us.

We will talk to them. Watching from a distance makes it easier for our beauticians to keep their heads where we need them.

And, while we are on that topic, be warned that cutting kids’ hair isn’t easy. Their hair doesn’t always do what you think it will. Adding to that the propensity for them to move at the most inopportune moments. Have grace and a lowered expectation of perfection.
