A Few Things to Consider

PDO Threads Exeter, PAIf you want to give your facial features the lift they need to elevate your appearance and enjoy the results without complications, focus on before and aftercare.

What To Do Before the Treatment

Follow these steps for the best results:

  • Avoid high-intensity exercises and visits to the sauna. They can increase skin sensitivity and make you susceptible to complications.
  • Avoid omega-3 supplements and fish oils for at least 48 hours before the procedure. These can slow blood clotting and increase your risk for bleeding.
  • Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol at least one week before your session to prevent dehydration and allow the anesthesia to work.

And yes, avoid blood thinners like aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and anticoagulation medications at least two weeks before your treatment. Taking them can increase the risk of bruising, bleeding, and other unwanted side effects.

What To Do After the Treatment

Since PDO thread lifts are minimally invasive, aftercare is pretty straightforward.

  • Apply ice or a cold compress on the treatment area. Do this 4 to 5 times daily during the first week to reduce swelling, bruising, and discomfort.
  • Do not pull or exfoliate your skin or get a deep massage for at least three weeks. Basically, anything that applies pressure on the target area is a no-no.
  • Don’t wash your face for at least 12 hours. After the 12-hour window, be gentle with your skin, using as little pressure as possible.
  • Avoid aspirin for two weeks post-treatment to reduce bruising.
  • Don’t apply makeup or skincare on your face for at least 24 to 48 hours to give your skin time to heal. Also, avoid touching your face at the entry points of the threads to reduce the risk of infections.
  • Consume only liquids (don’t use a straw, as it makes you pucker) and soft foods for at least one week.
  • Limit facial movements for 24 hours. This includes exaggerated expressions such as chewing gum, large yawns, or smiling too wide for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Avoid tobacco and alcohol use for at least 72 hours post-op to avoid slowing the healing process.
  • Sleep with your head elevated and on your back for a week to prevent swelling. This keeps pressure off your face and keeps threads in position.
  • Stay hydrated and eat healthy foods to speed up healing.
  • Stop dental appointments, including cleaning, for four weeks after the lifting procedure to avoid any wide-mouth movements.
  • Avoid strenuous activities that may cause you to sweat or increase blood flow to your face, such as heavy lifting, for at least 24 hours post-procedure. Also, stay away from the sauna for at least a week.

If you’re experiencing any pain or discomfort, you can take Tylenol in the dosage advised by your doctor. But if you start noticing any abscesses or side effects that increase pain and discomfort, consult a physician ASAP.
