PDO Thread Lift Process
So, what is a PDO thread lift?
A polydioxanone (PDO) thread is a dissolvable thread with tiny barbs or spikes. When inserted in the underlying tissue, it attaches to the skin. As it is pulled up, it creates a lifted effect. Meanwhile, the small wounds that are created encourage collagen production which helps repair and keep skin healthy.
The threads work almost immediately, however, the results become fully visible after six months when the collagen has been given enough time to heal the skin.
Here’s what to expect if you decide to go ahead with a PDO thread lift.
Step 1: Consultation
A week or so before the procedure, you may be asked to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and painkillers. This precaution reduces the chances of bruising and bleeding.
On the day of the procedure, the medical professional will explain the process, aftercare, and any advice to help you recover.
Step 2: Prepping the Skin
You’ll be asked to recline while a technician cleans your skin with soap and alcohol, ensuring that no dirt, bacteria, or makeup is left behind. The medical professional will then apply local anesthesia to the area to minimize discomfort.
Note: Only a medical professional is allowed to administer this process. Lords & Ladies Salon and Medical Spa in Fleetwood, PA, has certified nurse injectors so you can have peace of mind that your procedure is in good hands.
Step 3: Getting Started
Once the local anesthesia has kicked in, the medical professional will make small incisions around the area you want to target. Then, a thin needle or cannula is used to insert the polydioxanone (PDO) thread under the skin’s tissue. This procedure should take 30 to 40 minutes depending on your skin’s health and requirements.
Step 4: Securing the Thread
Once in place, the threads will be secured on the other end to tighten the skin. At this point, the cannula will be removed. Thanks to the anesthetic, you might not feel anything more than a slight tug.
Step 5: Finishing Up
Any excess thread will be cut and the needles will be removed. While the procedure ends with this step, you need to observe proper aftercare to ensure the best results.
What To Expect After a PDO Thread Lift
You might experience some swelling and bruising after the procedure. This should last about 24 to 48 hours. Apart from some discomfort and inflammation, you should be able to return to your daily activities. However, avoid anything that causes you to break a sweat or will put undue pressure on your face.
