Choosing between full and partial highlights may appear to be a daunting task, especially if you aren't sure what the difference is. Obviously, a consultation with one of our talented staff members will get you going in the right direction. However, you might want to know more about it on your own, so here are the main differences:

Partial Highlight

Stylists don't always agree as to where these highlights are placed. Some believe the top and sides are the best locale, whereas others aim for the mohawk area. Thankfully, it's the stylist's discretion and, based on what you are hoping to achieve in your overall look, he or she will discuss placement with you.

Essentially though, a partial highlight is designed to be very natural looking. Its aim is for placement that would appear as though the sun lightened your hair. These are the least expensive highlighting options.

Full Highlight

Every section of your head is highlighted in this process. Everywhere… including the nape of your neck to your hairline and everything in between. Full highlights can be heavy and drastic if you plan on changing the color from dark to light, or they can be used to simply lighten your hair slightly.

Keep in mind that highlights placed at the back of your head won't show the same growth as those located at the front. This means you can opt for a full and then alternate to a partial as a means of saving money between coloring.
